Especially helpful is understanding the triggers that cause me to eat when I am really not hungry. I think this is an important missing piece of the puzzle in following my personal eating plan to reach my goals and then maintain those goals.

Wondering if You’re Addicted to Food?
Being able to talk and share with other women who struggle with this type of addiction, has been life changing. I am not able to talk about my struggle with food with my 6' ft best friend who does not have the same struggles, or my daughter who is naturally an intuitive eater. Through workshops, live intention sessions, book club and connection I have become more curious about myself, habits and reasons.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
No. We are not a 12 step community. We are a community of women referred to as “sisters” who are all on the path to healing and recovery from food addiction. Yet we all have different pathways that we are using/following to get there. Some are following 12 step program principles and others are not. What is important is that we are all inclusive and believe in autonomy to choose, what is right for you. All paths that lead to peace and freedom with food and our body are welcome here. We expect all members to honor this for each other as well.
-
That is up to you to decide. We do not push any specific food plan or way of eating. Some women find that moderating sugar is difficult and others seem to manage just fine. So the choice is yours.
-
We understand that abstinence does not feel peaceful for some, and yet for others it does.
Soul Sisters United itself does not prescribe to any one specific pathway to recovery.
We care that you follow what is right “for you” and through the process of experimentation and self discovery we support you to learn what is best for your mind, body and spirit.
For some abstinence is a miracle and for others it can be highly triggering.
Only you know what is best for you.
-
We do not prescribe food plans. This should come from you or your medical provider/practitioner. If you have been prescribed a dietary medical protocol, we can support you to move towards that. If you have decided you want to eat higher protien because you notice you have fewer cravings, we can support you with this. So no, we do not prescribe food plans. We do believe that ultra processed food is damaging to everyone’s health and that whole foods are nourishing to our body, mind and spirit. We support women to move in this direction yet they choose what this looks like for themselves.
-
No. We do not prescribe exercise programs. Many of the members do engage in some form of movement or are working towards incorporating more movement into their lives. Everyone is on a different journey and in a different place with this. We believe in movement for health and wellness, and have found that finding something that brings you joy and cultivates connection can be helpful for recovery.
-
No you do not need a referral to join the Soul Sisters United community. A referral is only required if you want your practitioner to apply for a medical scholarship on your behalf.
-
Absolutely! While a doctor, nutritionist or therapist can provide professional recommendations for you to follow between appointments with them, that is not easy to do alone. Soul Sisters United provides a community that understands your journey and the challenges you experience firsthand. The emotional support and real-time interaction with professional coaches and therapists trained in this area can significantly amplify your progress

We don’t have a “program” for you to follow other than “your own soul desires”. Your relationship with food and the challenges you experience along the way, is deeply personal.
